Bruce McClary

Clinical Social Work/Therapist, LCSW-C, CCM

I am a Board certified clinical social worker with nearly 40 years of experience in helping people navigate the therapy process. Seeking help takes courage, but the benefit of getting therapy is immense and can be life changing and life affirming. Most of my career I have helped people suffering from chronic medical illnesses and the anxiety, depression, and medical trauma (PTSD), they can face. I am experienced with treating many mental health challenges, ADHD, anxiety, depression, bi-polar disorder, sexual trauma. If you have POTS, EDS, developmental and intellectual challenges, and autism, I am here to help you and your family.

Deciding on therapy and getting to your first appointment is more than half the battle to getting and feeling better. I work to explain the therapy process. I strive to be an active listener as you describe what brought you into therapy. I work to make you feel comfortable and look at goals you would like to achieve.

I work to demystify the therapy process. Everyone has the tools to get better; they just have to learn when and how to use them. I use humor and motivational interviewing to help the client feel comfortable. I am very empathetic and work to make each client feel heard, appreciated, and safe.

A Path Into Medical Trauma Work

I began McClary Counseling, LLC after decades supporting people whose lives were reshaped by illness, procedures, and hospital stays, and I wanted therapy that truly respected those medical realities.

Who I Work Best With

I focus on people managing chronic medical conditions, medical PTSD, autism, intellectual disability, ADHD, and mood disorders, and I welcome caregivers who need support navigating complex health and disability systems together.
